How to Remove Duplicate Files
September 2, 2008
Most people have problems with the hard disk space, that as the data in your hard disk gets filled up and the more hesitant you are delete or backup those files, it could be a worst nightmare. But have you ever wonder about the duplication of files in your PC, that is the same file placed at multiple locations of your hard disk knowningly or unknowingly. These duplicated files too consume the hard disk share and hence its always better to clear them off. But looking for the duplicated file in 300GB hard disk could take a day and thats were the following apps comes to help.

HCC comes in 2 version free and premium. The free version is more than enough to do the job but of course premium one provides additional features such as checking for duplicates in multiple drives and the ability to exclude subfolders from checking for duplicates. The only downside is it keeps asking me to upgrade to PRO version.

Duplicate File Finder is a simple, but effective tool to locate duplicate files in one or more selected search paths. It scans the files and compares them based on Byte for Byte Comparison, which ensures 100% accuracy. You can then choose to delete the selected duplicate or original files. The program is multi threaded and performs scans quickly. For 200 GB it only takes roughly 5 minutes to complete. It’s totally free!

LifeviNe: Track Your Life!
August 30, 2008
Nokia and other mobile handset manufactures are striving hard to get on with iPhone3G with a huge set of features and facilities that the iPhone had not provided. Nokia Beta Labs is up with a software LifeviNe and will be soon laucnhed which will get your tracked as you moved along in life. You can also access the pictures, music and video of wherever you’ve been, either on a map or a time line. After you install it you will need to run lifeviNe widget on your device and it’ll pinpoint every image, video and music to a location. You can also put in the videos and share with others.

According to Nokia Conversation, The new app is based on Sports Tracker, which has been a huge hit since it launched out of Beta Labs last year. Although they share the same base architecture, the two apps look and feel completely different. Once running, you can use your device as you normally would, or keep an eye on your activity using the lifeviNe app.
As well as tagging all your media’s locations the app will also track where you’ve been (so you need to be careful when you have it switched on!), and plot your journey on the web based map when you sync it at the end of the day. Uploading is a cinch too, as lifeviNe can be set to automatically upload whenever you’re in a trusted wireless zone.
Online you can look at and share your journeys, filtering by user, place or time. There’s also an online widget which you can place on your blog or Facebook page, allowing others to see what you’ve been up to.
We’re told we should see lifeviNe in Beta form within a few weeks, and I personally can’t wait to try it out. Fusing the web and your device like this is a pretty cool concept and from what we’ve seen this app looks stunning, and pretty easy to use.
You can get more of that from here and from Nokia

Hide Your Key Strokes From Keylogger
August 28, 2008
Are you using the PC of your friend or from Internet Cafes, then you could be a target for those who are behind you to steal you personal information, passwords and credit card details. And mostly all these information is ripped from the PC with help of key loggers which record all your key stokes whether its in word or you typing your password everything is either stored in unknown destination in PC or mailed to a predefined email. And its all in a fraction, you loose everything. So incase you happen to use a strange PC do keep in mind to type the sensitive information with the following two tools.
Neo’s SafeKeys is a small program that helps to defeat keyloggers on unsecure computer terminals (such as Internet Cafes). It is a custom-made tool that allows for you to mouse-click your password on an on-screen keyboard.

You type your password by clicking each button on the keyboard of this application (with your mouse). Your password will appear, letter by letter, in the text box at the bottom of the window (within a “******” password mask). Select the text with your mouse and then drag-drop it onto the password box on your online form. That’s it!
Alternatively you may use Online Keyboard which work the same way as Neo’s Safekeys. Virtual Keyboard is the great thing when you can’t install or use additional keyboard layouts bundled with your OS. For example, you’re at the internet cafe where only En/US layout is available and you want to write some letters to your Russian, Korean, Japanese or any other friends. Yes, you can just transliterate your writing, but this will take much more time than you ever expect and makes reading boring.
This is the case to have the VirtualKeyboard installed on a site: you just open it and begin typing. Virtual keyboard will do the translation/transliteration job for you on the fly. The same goes to the search engines, forums, webmail systems and much other online and offline applications. It makes a sense, to integrate tiny app there and make life easier for you and your customers.
