Microsoft Phone Data Manager
September 23, 2008
Microsoft® Phone Data Manager Beta is an application that is designed to take away the worry of losing data on your phone – specifically contacts, music, pictures and videos. It does that by synchronizing your phone contacts with Microsoft’s Windows Live Contacts store in the cloud, or by helping you download files from the phone to your local computer.

Contacts: Microsoft® Phone Data Manager Beta synchronizes the contacts present in your phone with your contact store on Windows Live Contacts, which is the same store that your Hotmail contacts uses. This way, your phone contacts are always present on the internet, accessible via the contacts link on Hotmail. If you lose, or simply change your phone, all you need to do is to synchronize the contacts using Microsoft® Phone Data Manager Beta, and all the contacts that you stored in your Windows Live Contacts store will be downloaded to your phone. You can synchronize your contacts as many times as you like so that the changes you make (edits, additions or deletions) on your phone, or on the computer on Windows Live Contacts are always reflected on both your phone and the Windows Live Contacts store.
Music, Pictures and Video: In its current form, Microsoft® Phone Data Manager Beta will download the music, pictures and videos present in your phone to a local folder on the computer you are using this application on
Communication with your phone: Microsoft® Phone Data Manager Beta can communicate with your phone via a wireless standard known as Bluetooth, or via a USB cable.
In order for you to synchronize contacts, you will need to have a Windows Live ID (any Hotmail ID is a valid Windows Live ID). If you do not have one, you will be prompted to create one while you use the application
How FireUploads Mozilla Add-ons Work?
September 21, 2008
There are so many instances where you had to upload files from your local computer to a website. The standard upload mechanism in any website has many limitations like, they allow you to upload 1 file or a maximum of 10 files at a time. And they doesn’t show any information like upload progress i.e how much was already uploaded and how much is still remaining.

As the name says, this firefox extension is an universal upload tool. It allows you to upload/download files from any website using a friendly interface. In this version, Box.net (1GB of free space), Flickr (photo viewing/sharing), Picasa (photo viewing/sharing), Youtube(Vidoes) are supported. You can upload videos to Youtube, upload/download/organize photos to Picasa, Flickr and Box.net. Next versions would support other websites like Google Videos, Webshots etc.
Features of Fireuploads are
- It shows the local folders and remote folders which enables you to upload files by single click.
- You can upload any number of files at a time.
- You can upload files to multiple websites using a single interface (using only one extension).
- Ability to add multiple accounts and upload files to each account independently.
- Site specific features are also included and will be improved in the coming versions. eg. Box.net: giving public/private access to files

Chromifox: Firefox With A Chrome Finish
September 17, 2008
Google Chrome since its launched had captured many migrants from Firefox. But many firefox users like me are still on the firefox till the final version of Chrome is launched as Chrome finds it difficult to handle more than ten tabs at a time. As I am really impressed with the look and feel that Google had presented to Chrome, and would be happy if the firefox too had the same look.

Now with Chromifox I am happy to have both Firefox and Google Chrome to my hands at the same time. The browser engine of Firefox and visual engine of Chrome. Thats you dont have to let the old pal firefox on to your recycle bin anymore. Its just like firefox having a Chrome coat to enhance the user experience.
Chromifox, from the developer of Camifox, is another blatant rip-off of another default theme from another great open source web browser! This time, the target is Google Chrome, or more specifically Chromium, the open source project behind it. The clean lines, slick layout, and compact style of Chromium were the points of inspiration for this theme. Chromifox offers a coat of Chrome for Firefox.

How To Backup Google Chrome Data?
September 15, 2008
Google Chrome had its launch a couple of days ago and through the hearts of millions but why some still dont prefer Google Chrome is just because Chrome does not have backing up feature of the user profiles, bookmarks and other information. But Google is not ready to compromise to leave its users to Firefox just because of the lack of the back up facility and is up with a Google Chrome Backup. Google Chrome Backup does backs up all your personalized browser data in just a click.

And thats not all in to backing up and restoring your profiles, Chrome Backup also allows you to easily create new profiles without the need to edit or create profiles, all this works as the same as Firefox Profile Manager. So lets see how to use the Google Chrome Backup Feature.
Step1. You need Google Chrome installed in order for this tool to work. It supports 0.2.149.27 version of Google Chrome or Chromium, but also newer builds. To use chromium please select a path within the Google Chrome Backup.
Step2.Select a profile from the list and manipulate profile by right clicking on it. Profiles have 2 different icons, Google Chrome and Chromium. Profile details also available.
Step3.To backup current profile click on the profile, select “Backup Profile” and select a backup path. A new file which holds your profile is created.
Step4.To restore the old profile, click on the profile, select “Restore Profile” and navigate to *.gcb file you want to restore. Selected profile will be deleted and restored from the backup file.
Step5.To create new Google Chrome or Chromium profile click on the “New Profile”. You can specify different switches to bind them to this new profile. Run those profiles directly from Google Chrome or Chromium or create a shortcut on your desktop.
Step6.To delete Google Chrome or Chromium profiles select it from the profile list and click with rigth mouse button and select “Delete profile”. You will completely delete profile folder and custom settings associated.
Step7.Add Google Chrome profiles (folders) to Google Chrome backup tool by clicking “Add Existing” button on the toolbar. Then you specify the profile folder and choose the browser.
